Layer It Up!

I love the fashion style in Korea. There are so many styles that I wish I could adopt but I don't know if I'll be able to pull it off. A style I see a lot is layering.

There's just something about this type of style that appeals to me. I guess it has to do with the fact that I sometimes layer my clothes myself, but I don't do it that often. Here are some that are basic layerings:

I think I like the layering look because it hides the rolls of my stomach fat hahaha. =p

My sense of style is still developing and I hope to find it hopefully during my time in Korea. I've got to lose a lot of weight before I head to Korea if I want to fit into the clothes there. There are more styles that I like but that can be for another post later on about Korean fashion. I wonder if the clothes are expensive in Korea though because if it is, I better start saving up now!

Sorry this isn't a long post but it's getting late and I've got work at 8am! Yikes!

FINALLY FREEEEE

uh... until ss2 starts next week that is... Just posting a little update so I can prove that I am still alive.

Took my ecn 1b and uwp 101 final today. I'm pretty sure I got owned. Sadness. I'm disappointed in myself that I didn't try hard enough. I will strive to do better! If not and I find myself slacking off again... I am grounding myself for a week. Let's see how that goes.

I love to eat!

My wall collage has been blank for the past couple of days but not anymore! I've slapped on a brochure that I got from the EAP center that is next to campus... and that's all I've got on the wall. That's it?! I know right... I keep thinking that every time I look at the wall. I've been so swamped with school that I haven't gotten a chance to put that much stuff up. Well, I don't really have that much stuff to put up anyways. I want to put up images but that wastes printer ink so I'm thinking of having TWO collages now. One on my wall and the second on my blog. I'll just post up the things I'll need to study abroad on thewall... time to bust out them calendars! Then my blog would be pictures of the things I want to do while in Korea. How genius is that? My twin helped me what that idea. =)

I should make each post a specific topic about Korea instead of just posting up random images, more organized that way.

So... since I love food and I love to eat, it's only right to make this post about FOOOOD!

I heard that these type of snacks are really cheap in Korea. I think it's awesome that these vendors are out on the streets because what if you're walking on the streets and you've got the munchies? What do you know... these carts are just right there for you to satisfy that mini hunger! Also, it won't even put a dent in your wallet... even better! I see these snack vendors in kdramas all the time. The actors make it look so good, especially when the weather is really cold and they eat something that's hot and delicious. Makes me want to be in their place for a bit so I can taste and experience it. However, I've always wondered if the food ever gets stolen because it's out in the open and someone can totally run by and grab the food. That's major boo boo if it has happened.

I actually know how to make a couple of Korean dishes thanks to my friend, David, who is in Korea right now teaching English to little kids. We met through his Korean cooking class that he taught two years ago and we became really good friends. I think the dishes I cook are decent, not that great but eatable I could say. If you don't get sick from the food I cook then that's good enough!

The one soup I don't think I can ever get sick of is budae jjigae:
Man... how good does that look??? My mouth is salivating just looking at that. David told me that he calls it "everything but the kitchen sink" soup. Which is kinda true because it has so much stuff in it: saugsages, noodles, rice cakes, fish cakes, spam, onions, etc. I would love to learn making this dish. Eating this during the winter time would be so awesome.

The one dish I don't know if I'm gonna try out is sannakji... which is live octopus. Dare I post up a picture of the dish?? Hmmm... why not...
To whoever has eaten this... kudos to you! The darest thing I've ever tried would probably be those cooked duck eggs a long ass time ago. It was pretty tasty though. But I don't know about the live octopus because what if the tentacles attaches itself to your tongue? Blech... just thinking about it sends shivers down my spine. Maybe I'll eat it as a dare and I've had about ten drinks in my system.

Okay... enough of that. Happy thoughts! Oy... now that I think of it... I don't think I've ever tried any Korean desserts. *gasp* I know right... I'm shocked myself. I've eaten Korean food many times but never the desserts AND I LOVE DESSERTS!!! Yes... I have a sweet tooth and I plan to take full advantage of it while in Korea. The dessert that is popular during the summer time is patbingsu:
Tell me you can't say no to that! Can't feel guilty for eating that because it's got the requirement of five fruits a day: kiwi, pineapple, watermelon, cherry, and uh... tomato! Yeah yeah... I'm one of those people who thinks tomato is both a veggie and a fruit. Don't hate!

Anyways... I should be writing my paper now. No worries... more posts about food will come soon! I love food remember??? =)

Procrastination is a bitch...

I really need to stop procrastinating if I want A's this summer. Procrastinating has been a bad habit of mine for a really long time. I tell myself at the beginning of every quarter that I will change and be more productive but that only lasts for about two weeks before I get lazy again.

Sighs... I need some motivation! I've decided that my motivation will come in a form of a wall collage. But before I continue on, I need to start at the beginning of why I'm starting to aim for A's. I really want to study abroad to Korea next summer and to do that, I need a 2.5 gpa. Almost there! I was bummed that I couldn't do it for fall quarter because the min. gpa for that is 3.0. However, studying abroad during summer is only about a month and a half. =[
I was thinking of extending into fall quarter so that I would be in Korea for six months. Six months! I think that's an awesome time period to get the full experience of studying abroad... not that measly one month and a half! I'm not sure if my mom would be okay with that though... she doesn't like it when her baby girl is far away from her. I'll beg her to let me extend the program if I have to. If not, I'll just do the summer and then stay one more month longer before heading back to the States. I am NOT going to stay in Korea for just a month and a half.

Now that you've got the background story, back to my awesome wall collage! I am turning my blank white wall into a collage dedicated to Korea to help motivate me. I used the wall that's across my bed so that when I wake up every morning, I would be able to see the wall. I've already started on the collage but slowly working on it because of summer classes and work taking over my life. I've also asked my friend, who is living in Korea right now to teach English, to send me some postcards so I can add it to my wall collage. Can't wait to fill the wall with a bunch of stuff!

KOREA... HERE I COME!!!

ps: Yeah... I'm procrastinating as we speak. I've got UWP 101 Paper and ECN 1B hwk due tomorrow. Oh how I hate you procrastination.
