I love to eat!

My wall collage has been blank for the past couple of days but not anymore! I've slapped on a brochure that I got from the EAP center that is next to campus... and that's all I've got on the wall. That's it?! I know right... I keep thinking that every time I look at the wall. I've been so swamped with school that I haven't gotten a chance to put that much stuff up. Well, I don't really have that much stuff to put up anyways. I want to put up images but that wastes printer ink so I'm thinking of having TWO collages now. One on my wall and the second on my blog. I'll just post up the things I'll need to study abroad on thewall... time to bust out them calendars! Then my blog would be pictures of the things I want to do while in Korea. How genius is that? My twin helped me what that idea. =)

I should make each post a specific topic about Korea instead of just posting up random images, more organized that way.

So... since I love food and I love to eat, it's only right to make this post about FOOOOD!

I heard that these type of snacks are really cheap in Korea. I think it's awesome that these vendors are out on the streets because what if you're walking on the streets and you've got the munchies? What do you know... these carts are just right there for you to satisfy that mini hunger! Also, it won't even put a dent in your wallet... even better! I see these snack vendors in kdramas all the time. The actors make it look so good, especially when the weather is really cold and they eat something that's hot and delicious. Makes me want to be in their place for a bit so I can taste and experience it. However, I've always wondered if the food ever gets stolen because it's out in the open and someone can totally run by and grab the food. That's major boo boo if it has happened.

I actually know how to make a couple of Korean dishes thanks to my friend, David, who is in Korea right now teaching English to little kids. We met through his Korean cooking class that he taught two years ago and we became really good friends. I think the dishes I cook are decent, not that great but eatable I could say. If you don't get sick from the food I cook then that's good enough!

The one soup I don't think I can ever get sick of is budae jjigae:
Man... how good does that look??? My mouth is salivating just looking at that. David told me that he calls it "everything but the kitchen sink" soup. Which is kinda true because it has so much stuff in it: saugsages, noodles, rice cakes, fish cakes, spam, onions, etc. I would love to learn making this dish. Eating this during the winter time would be so awesome.

The one dish I don't know if I'm gonna try out is sannakji... which is live octopus. Dare I post up a picture of the dish?? Hmmm... why not...
To whoever has eaten this... kudos to you! The darest thing I've ever tried would probably be those cooked duck eggs a long ass time ago. It was pretty tasty though. But I don't know about the live octopus because what if the tentacles attaches itself to your tongue? Blech... just thinking about it sends shivers down my spine. Maybe I'll eat it as a dare and I've had about ten drinks in my system.

Okay... enough of that. Happy thoughts! Oy... now that I think of it... I don't think I've ever tried any Korean desserts. *gasp* I know right... I'm shocked myself. I've eaten Korean food many times but never the desserts AND I LOVE DESSERTS!!! Yes... I have a sweet tooth and I plan to take full advantage of it while in Korea. The dessert that is popular during the summer time is patbingsu:
Tell me you can't say no to that! Can't feel guilty for eating that because it's got the requirement of five fruits a day: kiwi, pineapple, watermelon, cherry, and uh... tomato! Yeah yeah... I'm one of those people who thinks tomato is both a veggie and a fruit. Don't hate!

Anyways... I should be writing my paper now. No worries... more posts about food will come soon! I love food remember??? =)
